VILLA METOCHIA Mis en Bouteille – Frantzeskiana Metochia - Crete
They are standing there like old, wise men with their knotty and twisted branches …
"the olive trees"
It all began with a culinary dream holiday to the sunny Greek island Crete.
We tasted the sun and enjoyed what we saw and wanted to share our experiences with you.
Zorba the Greek is no myth, he really exists, and we met him quite by chance along a small mountaintrack. He waited for us with honey, wine and some other regional products: "Olive oil" an essential part of the Cretan menu because of which one can become a hundred years old! (Or was it because of the "Raki"?).
Having dinner and drinks with family and friends is a valuable part of the mediterranian lifestyle which we appreciate a lot. Therefore we sought our own spot under the sun and have found it just outside the busy Rethymno.
Frantzeskiana-Metochia, a calm village with 260 inhabitants, located near the seashore.
Here we have lost our heart between the sea and the mountains.
We found piece of land with trees and we immediately felt the urge to build our new Guesthouse there.
Swimming in the morning in the bay of Gerani in the north. Having lunch in the mountains and dinner on a terrace along the south coast tomorrow and in the evening a fresh Duveltje in the narrow streets of the old Venetian port Rethymno… anything is possible. Enjoy!
